any diesels arent meant to rev as quickly or as high as a petrol but 3000rpm sounds quite bad. how old is the engine?? it might just have dirty oil or didnt get serviced very often.

just from how much u clear the 35's im guessing it has a 2inch sagged spring lift and 2 inch shackle lift plus the bodylift. and it might have the front spring perches moved forward? measure the shackles and if theyr over 200mm they r extended

im just thinking out of the box...
it sounds like she would want an old vitara? if its going to be and onroad car
and you would avoid the agricultural ride, noise, handling and a conversion wouldnt be necessary

suzuki used a small turbo on the "sportier" cervo/cappucino models.
It was used on a 3-pot big block 660cc engine and starting building boost up around 1500rpm. The torque and Kw figures were about 5 less than the daihatsu. Suzuki used this model to compete with the daihatsu charade Gti.

diff gears or transfer case gears wil help push 33's
i spose you could run it with no gears or anything it just will minimize torque
some good engine modifications would be extractors straight thru exhaust and block rebuilds etc. and turbo if you had enough $$$.

the vitara would be the choice if your not going to be doing serious 4x4'ing in. The sierra is alot more truck like than the vit and comfort and roadhandling is alot worse again. but offroad the sierra walks alll over most 4bys. The vitara has the 1.6, they got Efi in the early 90's.
