I was in the same boat for the last 6 months and just bit the bullet.
Picked up a GU 4.2 wagon 1999, it,s immaculate, best thing I've ever done, with safari turbo and intercooler fitted at 40,000kms, now done 137,000.
It has quite a few extras, 2" lift, dual bat, alarm, tint, arb winch bar etc, some ...

I have the same vehicle and have 33x12 bfg muddies on an offset 15x10 black "Mangel" rims, I needed 2" extended shackel and 2" spring to fit them. But it might be worth doing 2" body and tray lift (very easy) in case you use 35"s one day, I did this no regrets, still feels really solid and safe and ...

Thanks people. Maybe be looking at GU wagon 4 to 5 years old can anyone confirm that 15 x 10's would fit?
Also if models this age are a good choice or had any problems in petrol or diesel / turbo diesel?

The 35's should fit, but you would want to stick at least 2" suspension under it just for a bit of extra clearance.

Id keep em, the simexit will make your GU an absolute weapon..

What about the 15" part I know they go on gq's but wasn't sure about gu calipers with 15" rims?

10k is a good deal for that vehicle especialy if you know its history. I looked at a lot when I bought my 1987 hj75 in 2000 but ended up buying the father in laws ex farm ute for $8500 270,00km's it was basic but I knew its history and I believe that is valuable.
