Does anyone know if you can get stronger axles to use with a 10 spline air locker?
Haven't broken one yet (probably because I DO have spares) but it would be nice to not have to be afraid to spin up my 32inch mongrels.

sprigot bearing
Dont know about your car but some makes have different sizes of sprigit bearing for different input shafts (rover from memory do????)
Maybe the sprigot bearing in you new motor is to small for your gearbox input shaft.
Just a thought and good luck.

Painted my FJ40 in killrust red years ago (Well before roothy did!). Started with a wagner power painter and then got bored wasting paint and used a brush (after thinning out the paint a little).
Painted the fence, house and everything else at the same time but it looked good, well better anyway ...

Thanks for both your input.
I did a couple of hours of steep uphill work on the weekend so I don't think its and airlock.
I made my own shroud to fit and the fans push heaps of air through the radiator. (You can see it coming out under the engine bay your pants flap in the breeze!)

V8 getting too hot
My 3.5 is getting to hot at high revs as follows:
-Low range work at high revs (climbs to 'H")
-High speed ie 80+ kph road (¾ temp)
Have changed thermostat, near new radiator, hoses seem OK. Have just replaced fan with dual thermos (14inch). One is front one behind (Heaps of air flow!) top ...

What stops the steering on my 78 classic? Even with the stops wound all the way out they touch nothing! Is this normal? Does the box take the load on full lock?

From experience (have both) my troopie 4.5litre is heaps better towing than my rangie 3.5l or my mates 4.2 rangie
a) the 4.5 has heaps more go
and
b) the leaf springs in the rear make handling a lot more predictable
and
c) the 4.5 keeps its cool no matter what you throw at it.

I am thinking of putting a plate between the upright mounts under the floor so that the cage could only push down a couple of inches if the body was squashed.
