I have heard any between 1999 and end of 2002 may be prone to this. I think it is not so much a manufacturing defect than a design issue. These boxes have been around since the early 4.2's and those engines only had about 250nm of torque. The 3.0 has around 350nm and so do the turbo 4.2's ...
