i put an 89 75 series cab onto 92 80 series running gear.
its gunna be all engineered and registered once i finish building it.
had to make custom body mounts and stuff though.

make sure you hook up the vss also otherwise it will chew a shitload of juice.
brothers ls1 75 series gets about 400-450km from a tank on 37's without the vss, its halfway through its rebuild to clear defect and get engineered and is getting a vss so should be a loit better after that

after seeing several ls1 powered 4wd's (75 series cruiser, gq patrol, my 75/80 cruiser) i'd take an ls1 over a diesel any day of the week, if you like having decent power under your boot

hans't been done yet but my brother got a set of bundera doors to get all the mechanisms out of, think he picked up the pair of doors for $50.
fairly sure he's just gunna cut the frames off the top and change them to 75 series 1's and use them on his 75 series

i reckon it'd still be too small.
and apparently 1fz's can take 8psi comfortably without the need for an aftermarket ecu

mate has 1 in a patrol on straight gas, 286 cam, stocko high km 308 bottom end and it flys.
so i'd imagine in a bit lighter cruiser it'd go alright

Re: Custom 75 series airbox. driver side
after having a quick look around i like the look of the fzj79 airbox.
anybody know anyone that would have 1 of them around?
i could easily change the top outlet to 4 inch and to point forwards more to suit ls1 intake.
heres a proper pic for any1 else looking.

flexy coils should give a nice soft ride, not sure about sagging with steel bar or anything.
i'll be using flexy coils but my ute probly weighs a lot less than yours so i need them just to be half normal

Just wondering if anybody has any pictures of custom airbox's they have made for the drivers side of a 75 series bay, or if anyone could make me a decent one.
I'm lookin for somethin 4" in and 4" out that will hold a very well flowing filter.
Am running an ls1 engine so will need plenty of air

i think in the 79 series they may have an electronic dash signal....not 100% sure.
i think marks do 1 at around the $300 range but that dakota 1 is about 40 or 50 bucks so a touch cheaper.

Re: Lengthening handbrake cable - 80 series
yeh had thought of doing something like that.
have to also extend the outside housing of the cable though.
could possibly do that with some aluminium tubing.
the end of the cable has a threaded on it so should be able to get something made to suit, but was hoping to get it modified professionally.

Lengthening handbrake cable - 80 series
Just wondering if anybody knows somewhere that can extend an 80 series handbrake at the end where it attatches to the body.
i've got a 75 cab on an 80 chassis and the handbrake cable is one of my last big head aches i'm trying to sort out.
It needs to be about 6" longer to reach the handbrake ...

Re: modifying radiator core. is it possible?
yeh thought about selling it and getting 1 made.
its a big radiator so 60mm or 70mm off it shouldnt hurt it, its cooling an ls1, and i'll have a nice big davies craig thermo and shroud on it.
its just a matter of if someone can do it properly so it won't burst or leak in the middle of nowhere
