ok pulled the diff in my 40 due to some horrible noises.
the oil was a bit crappy, the pinion has about 1/8th a turn play in it, the pinion moves up and down about 1 inch at the flange, and the whole pinion (with diff assembeled) can move in and out of the carrier about 1 inch.

I don't know what brand mine are, but I replaced a pair of lifted Lovells springs and am happy with the result. The parabolics have better travel and ride better than the others.
