For some reason there is water getting into the fuel system. Its blowing white smoke, a LOT on startup and whats even more weird it started blowing it going uphill (low load) and now down hill (no load) but less on the flat.

He has a ...

Re: To the welding gurus out there

Ive seen worse welds holding a car together. If it doesn't leak, they honour the warranty INCLUDING any costs of recovery in the even of failure then whats the issue? I can guarantee that your car has welds that bad on it already.

If you want pretty welds done by a master craftsman then expect to ...

Ls1 lacks midrange in standard form - I would go a 6.o if you can.
Duramax is the answer though - if you have the green.

A tune fixes the midrange up with no problem or throw in a $350 cam for HEAPS of power.

From 2003 onwards they fixed most of the issues.
These days with NADS we don't tend to worry about grenading.

Got a front dana 60 and rear sterling 10.5 off a 2003 f250, for a build I am doing.
Needs new brakes and I've got a set of TRD Aurion calipers, same as Corvette C5 fronts and C4 Rears.

Just wondering weather these would work, fit with standard rotors and wouldn't be too difficult to make brackets ...

Re: running tie rods upside down

The only problem is if you have tapered tie rod ends. The bolt section that goes through the steering stem. Most of them are tapered so they won't physically fit upside down. But if that isn't the case then no problem. Go for it.

Re: Ls1 gu patrol, lack of torque, need advice.

the LS1 is not known for a lot of low down torque. L98 6.0L is much better.
You can also try changing the intake manifold to one from a LQ4 Silverado LS. That will help with low down. Also as mentioned I think cam choice is wrong. Need a nice truck / tow cam.
I would go the 4.6 diffs with the 35 ...

Re: 2nd Hand Chevy parts dealers - Oz or US

I think I would like to deal with the electrical gremlins that would come about by using an LS conversion than trying to get the carb related emission control systems that would come with a 1996 model engine any day of the week.

Are you sure the 1996 454s are still carby, and not just throttle ...

Re: 2nd Hand Chevy parts dealers - Oz or US

No 454's were sold in AU between those dates so an import is going to be your best option and then you will have to get it well documented. Why do you want a 454 anyway? The size, weight, cost, rarity etc are all working against you. Finding a LS1 will save you over 10k in the conversion, be better ...

Re: 2nd Hand Chevy parts dealers - Oz or US

What car is it going into? The engine needs to be the same age or newer than the car so putting one in a 96 FJZ75 for instance isnt going to happen. There are also size limits, weight issues to look at too (notice there arent any 454's in 4x4's in AU, there is a reason....)
