Press confirmation that Mercedes are bringing the lower-end commercial G-wagen (non-bling models)
Perhaps a rival to the troopy for miners and farmers - solid axle, coils, lockers, more safety kit, build like a brick shithouse...

So here's the result.
Bought some scrap 3mm aluminium (not checkerplate BJ!)from the wrecker for $33 (when some left over)
So the rear trim was replaced allowing me to mount the hinges without cutting into the door.
Painted with etch primer then charcoal hammertone.

I having been thinking about what you said Bru - perhaps just plain sheet is the way to go. If I can colour match the other metal interior bits (dashboard, various plates) it will look more factory.
I am assuming that the point of checkerplate is for grip - which I dont need for a table or trim.
I ...

I am thinking about replacing the trim on my rear door with checker plate aluminium so I can then mount a hinged table onto it, also of checkerplate.
I personally dont like the shiny stuff and would like to roughly match the rest of the trim, which is gray.
Does anyone know if I can get coloured ...

Hi,
I removed the ERPS unit from another car some time ago and I need to wire it to the new one.
Looking at the ERPS web site they have a picture of what must be a newer model with 2 blue wires at the control unit forming a loop with the couplers. Each coupler which I just bought has 2 blue wires ...

I guess you cant use it as a make-shift hand winch like a high-lift.
Still it looks like a good idea. Do comp guys use a high-lift? Being lighter would be an advantage.
Is it just me or did it look like the side steps were bending on that video?

Sorry if this has already been mentioned...did a search.
Saw a new high-lift jack on the market, in the latest 4WD Action, and thought others might be interested. Perhaps someone has one and can comment on the differences to the usual high-lift jacks?

Are we talking about a reverse light or a work light? I thought a work light should be mounted high for camp/work illumination and a big reverse light was more for bush driving to get a better view behind at night, reversing.

This is a competition truck yeah? For when you need to quickly get the lights out of the way from a low-hangling obstacle?
Cant see it as a shooting rig - not enough room to stand on the back, unless the passenger is shooting from inside the cab.

I suppose if you could strip it down and replace all the panels (not hard if you have all the old ones as templates) then you might be able to get rid of the smell.
But the antiseptic might still linger...
I dunno, no experience, purely guessing.

Google SketchUp
Its free and has plenty of tutorials.
I have only had a brief look but will try it to makeup a drawing of a rear bar I want to make.
Perhaps a solidworks pro can have a look and see if its suitable for non-pros for small DIY jobs.

It requires that the spare is turned around which may mean fabricating alternative ...

Will post up pics soon but its a 1988 SWB petrol.
