Such a storm in a teacup!!!!!!!!!!
Simple logic was that if there were enough trucks with a certain type of winch (or other mod) around that wanted to do comps there would be a class specifically for you don’t you think?? The guys who run events would, should and could make money if there were ...

Re: Getting 4.8 Gu brakes to 4.2 patrol
Someone more noteable may know more but I believe you should also replace the booster? May not need to to make it work but from what I understand the brakes wont work to their full potential??????? Someone may correct me as I am not 100%. Might be worth doing a serch on Patrol4x4 forum

Re: CAD design
Hi Buggy man,
I use cad programs a lot and they are great but do take some time getting used to. Once you have mastered one its generally pretty easy to get the hang of others. You can download a student version of AutoCad at no cost but when you print it will have a watermark. Perfect for what you ...

Re: Who's using 150psi preasure switch with lockers?
New style lockers can handle up to 500PSI of pressure (Locker not the solinoid) and warantee covers up to 300PSI I believe BUT requires special actuating equipment and bottled air.
Old Style no probs at all at 150PSI should work up to 300 but not recommended........assuming in good condition...See ...

Power Steering Pump TB42
Hi Guys,
My power steering pump on my comp truck died or got very sick at the last comp, just wondering if I should look at a custom set up or just stick with a standard Nissan pump?
Its for enduro winch challenge type events running Tb42 turbo motor and 37" treps.
Any thoughts appreciated
Cheers

Re: Reccomend a replacement main battery
I also have 3 optima blue tops in my comp truck. 6 years old I think, it doesn't get used every day so a little different to some. They are mounted in the cab so I cannot use a traditional lead acid as it has to be sealed. Absolutely awesome batteries mostly as they charge so much quicker than ...

TD42T Diesel Safari Tuff Clutch into TB42 Turbo
Hi Guys,
Just wondering if I can use a Diesel clutch on a TB42 turbo. Looking for first hand experience or knowledge please not just I think so.
Too much money to take a chance!! Part numbers etc would be great but I think the GU TD42T clutch has the biggest clamp force? but assume that the GQ ...

Re: dual battery amperage questions.
Firstly apologies if this is a thread hijack but I think there is some relevance to the original topic. This is partly, I guess, a direct question for drivesafe. I have a safari (ie imported GQ Patrol) so my vehichle is 24 volt - ie 2 batteries but want to run a third for 12 volt accessories (there ...

Awesome pic of fish plate, can anyone provide some pics of the fish plating required on the chassis. As I'm bracing my diffs and may aswell strengthen the chassis too.

Re: 4.2 conversion from rb30
I Agree with Big Lux, if it was a GU that you picked up cheap then definitely worthwhile pursuing but in a car that when finished will still only be worth around the 10K mark max a conversion just isnt worth it. Keep an eye out on forums and ebay etc and you can pick up a good TD42 for 6-10k.

By the way Toughnut I love your work on the GQ/U middy mate. Mine is a MWB GQ with an 'A' frame extension but I like your triangulated system better. Re: Chassis Lamination
Thanks for the replies guys. I am glad that no one seems to think laminating the whole chassis is necessary as it was not a job I was looking forward to attempting if everyone thought it was worthwhile. I have done a hell of a lot of reading on this and other forums before getting in to the comp ...

Chassis Lamination
Hi Guys,
I have just purchased a GQ comp truck and have found a couple of chassis issues. One is at the front on the inside of the steering box, which I know can be helped by adding the Nissan recall kit - is there any other sugestions? Also have a full weld cracked on the inside passenger side ...
