97 GQ PatroTD42 missing/spluttering under load above 2000rpm

Our 97 Patrol (non turbo) has started missing and spluttering under load. This can start when under acceleration, and when the revs are 2000+. It is also happening when cruising at 2000+ rpm.
This seems to be getting worse.
Any thought? All input gratefully accepted.
Also can someone recommend a ...

Interesting survey - have been to the major wrecking yards today & half the GQ's I found have the same problems starting with the rust in the drivers front bump cup - might be on intrerest to check your own - simply unscrew the inspection plate. You might save yourself alot of trouble?

Firstly thank you for your replies. OK point of clarification. As well as the bump stop bolt with nut being rusty - the plate that it bolts to is totally rusty as well. That is the area inside the coil. Where the coil is pressing seems fine - just the "cup" area. I am guessing the whole bracket will ...

Stop Bump Rust Advice

Hi All
Would love some advice on this one please. Nissan TD42 1989. The front bump stops screw upwards into the body. It is rusted through & needs repair.

My questions are:
1. who to take this to for repair AND
2. What would they do?

Look forward to hearing from you all
Cheers

Excellent work!!! I have heard that there are a number of similarities between the Triton and the Challenger (or maybe I should say shared componentry)
Look forward to your next post hopefully confirming a possible easy fit

Thanks to all the replies so far. I especially think your idea is worth considering Scott. Will go track down an auto upholsterer and see what the go is

OK - given this is a Ford Maverick - any ford branded alternatives would also be of interest?

Pajero front seats into a Triton

Has anybody fitted a set of Pajero front seats into a Triton. The front seats in the 2000 GLX Dual Cab could only be called average at best, so looking for a more up market replacement. Could go for an aftermarket set, but a bit outside budget. So hopefully pick something up from the wreckers that ...

After looking round the net for other posts regarding this problem, I have found the Mitsubishi L200 owners club in the UK, which is a 700 plus strong club/forum for owners of Mitsubishi L200 and similar (the UK version of the Triton). This is an excellent site and well worth a look for Triton ...

Steering Wheel Compatabilities

The steering wheel on my wifes Maverick is totaly stuffed. Does anyone know what steering wheels are compatable with the splines on a 89 Maverick / GQ Diesel 7 seater wagon?

Nope, not joking. But this is only what I had been told by a sales guy. I posted here in the hope of finding out more from people who actually owned Tritons and had maybe done something about the problem.
I guess the most logical thing to do is to go and talk to some mechanics - see what they ...

Thanks for all the comments to date. I like the pedal to the metal into corners proposition, although it can get a bit hairy in car parks

I have heard that the steering stops can be adjusted. I was speaking to a Mitsubishi sales guy who reckoned that they should be adjusted already - supposed to ...

Thanks for the feedback guys. I have completed my installation and can report that the yellow wire would appear to have very little use. Put it this way... my yellow wires did not get connected to anything, and the lights are working fine. In fact they are awesome.

Perhaps as the general ...

Wiring on Hella Rallye 4000's

I have almost completed the installation of a set of Hella 4000's on my 2000 Triton ute (excellent early Xmas present from wife ) . Using a Pirahna wiring loom. All working ok - but what on earth is the yellow wire out the back of each light to be connected to? The brown wire is positive and blue is ...
