Good call AJ.
Based on his sig, "35-12.5-15 MTR's" the 15" rims will not go over the 4.8 brakes. So new rims will need to be thrown into the mix.

All you need are backing plates (both parts), rotors and caliper mounts (just as easy to get the whole caliper though).
The actual caliper is the same on the two, however just mounted a little further outward on the 4.8.
4.8 has a much better venting design than the 4.2. I did notice improved ...

The problem will be more about volume of fluid than anything else.
If you mounted the PS pump at the sump level, you would have it plumbed in to draw the cooled fluid from the cooler and then exhaust from the steering box back into the cooler.
Technically what the pump is wanting to draw in from ...

You essentially just need a pre-amp unit and wire it to a normal car amp.
You can get pre-amp kits from Jaycar, but might struggle to find a small-cheap commercial unit as most of this gear will be aimed at PA business.
Jaycar, or Radio Parts might have something in their catalouges, otherwise ...

Thats interesting about the filter diaphragm. I will certainly give that a go, and going to a decent filter with a 2 or 4 micron filter definitely is a good idea even if it doesnt solve the heating issues.
It isn't the filter itself that is crap, it is the manual hand pump on the top that allows ...

I have run w2a and a2a on my 4.2 GU and for a diesel would go top mount every time for a 4WD. It is simple, lag is minimal and when you really need it at full boost your normally moving at a speed fast enough that it is working.
I had a PWR w2a (10x6") and the unit did work, no question about that ...

The only reason you would spend over a grand on a sump on a rover engine would be if you where forced to used the engine because of some class rules.

Brett,
Sounds like your on the right track then.
To make your life easy, I would get some RHS and make it out of that as opposed to the donut. RHS will be cheaper and will hold a lot more oil for the effort.

This is a 700kg 2wd buggy - not a 3T 4wd.

By flaps do you mean a one way trap door - to stop oil surging into the "extra side compartments" on hard cornering (keep it in the bowl)

Yes flaps are always better, not just in your sump.
But a) if you have the skills and/or time to fabricate up flaps your probably not considering welding exhaust pipe to the side of the sump for extra capacity; b) it is no longer a "easy" sump upgrade.
Flaps always make the situation more ...

Have done this previously on circuit racing cars with success. I just welded 4" exhaust pipe on though rather than using donuts, but you could also use large RHS with one of its sides cut off.
I didn't remove the side of the sump, just drill a few 10mm holes in it so it work like a baffle.

You cannot increase the track more than 1.5", and you cannot go 2" larger than standard tyres.
Therefore if I got a set of Dana-60 axles shortened to be around standard GU width, do 37" become an option as the D60's have 35" standard (OKA at least, what about the F-trucks)??

If you look at going the Ford 9" route, get the outers of some Dana-60's and run 35-spline 9" centre. With a little planning you should be able to get off the shelf axles from the US to fit in as the D60 comes in a heap of widths and pumpkin offsets.

just as a point of note, why are people running antifreeze in their intercoolers?
Once in a rush to head off for the weekend, I topped up with straight water, so was running about 1/3 normal anti-freesze mixture. 45oC that day and I boiled the water out of the system towing the camper.

You could use a plasma cutter if you have one, and the panel is going to be painted after the cutting.
Otherwise one of these will just slice through the panel, and kinks, folds, buckles and curves don't slow them down
