LPG on EFI TB42

OK, I understand the fuel savings on putting LPG on one of these fuel guzzlers

However, what, if any, are the negatives of this setup ?

Am I better to go straight gas or dual fuel ?

Upper cylinder lubricant ?

Tank location ?

Economy from other with similar setups ?

Basically, anything I might need to know before forking out the big $$$

What should a decent system set me back ?

Straight or dual fuel . Dual fuel gives you bonus of having 2 tanks of fuel to choose from especially if going to remote places. get a replacement petrol tank to give you larger fuel carrying capacity.
Mates with straight gas units leave their cars at home when we go outback.
System I wish I had in my car is a IMPCO as its pretty much set and forget. I got talked into a gasresearch system by onroad mates and no one seems to be able to tune it properly, especially their installers.
My GQ on gas is cheaper to run that the Missus's falcon, so the truck goes everywhere.

system was $2700 with replacement petrol tank. a few years ago.

Make sure the installer runs wires in protective tubing. And generally ruggerises the job as plenty of guys have had wires break or rub through when using offroad.
so far have broken some wires, busted the converter mount ( cape York),
Sheared off the LPG tank stome guard ( Simpson desert ). Gummed up a converter by using cheap LPG . Not a Safe Way of buying fuel.

It will be straight gas. I dont really want a big tank underneath and an LPG tank in the back of the car. Dont want to lose any room in the car.

This GQ is just a daily driver. It doesnt go off road at all. Let alone, remote places So fuel supply is not a problem.

Also, I have heard with dual fuel, tuning is a bit of a compromise

$2700 Didn't think it woud be so expensive - but I guess the way this thing chews fuel, i will get that back in no time

to buy all the impco/APA gear brand new for a carb tb42 is about $1200, i don't know if it is much different for the efi motor. you could put it in yourself easily. it is all made to measure, you don't have to fabricate anything.

This is my daily driver, so I catually care about it being legal

I got one quote for $1990 supplied and fitted. But if what you say is right, $800 in my pocket is good for me Even better, with some of the quotes heading toward $3000

It is like any mod, find a certifier who will inspect it for you before you do it, and then consult them through the mod, show progress and get it certified in the end.

I would do all the PITA bits and get a certifier to finish it off - more blokes will be interested in helping you if you go with that approach IMO, you can do it all yourself but you will need to find someone to pass it.

Does your car have a dizzy or is it electronic coil pack ? I really only know about Landies, Rangies and Peugeots

I have done EFI rangies with a dizzy for less than $500 total, that includes
all new gas lines, wiring, filler lines and mixer
All the rest was bought second hand - tank(s), converter and filler from the trading post - you would buy a generic kit and then go to a gas place for the specific bits for you car and all the new bits
