I've got some.
Bingham just put a set on. 305/70R16.
Two of our vehicles, a heavily loaded Patrol ute and an 80 Series just did a Cape Trip with 285/75R16 MTZ fitted.
Was a bit damp for the majority of the trip and the boys came back really impressed with the their performance. Really impressed.
Cheers,
Ryano

isnt he the dude with the bling chromies? I asked him about that once before and he said it wasnt for offroad.. might have the wrong dude.dogbreath_48 wrote:http://www.4wdlinks.com.au/albums/album ... Twisted by Design
yeah, that vid was of a real hardcore mud run.....LOL.....was pretty lame, but still enough to blow the f@rken alternator
, and yep, that was with the bling 17's on.....It does get used offroad, but just not on much stuff where damage to the rims might happen.....I've got the zook for that kinda sh!t (if it ever gets finished)
As for the MTZ's, I was real happy with how they performed at Rover Park for Battle for States....got 3rd place in the mud drags which had even less mud than the mud run vid above....but they gripped awesome on the redline, drop the clutch in 2nd gear low range launches!!!
As far as the MTZ's being soft, I don't think they are that soft......compared to the new kumho's I had on before them anyway.....

Depending on how much of a hard time you give them, I'd say 70,000+.6.5 rangie wrote:Haven't seen the Kuhmo's in the flesh to see how soft they are, but i'm really considering the MTZ's. What sort of k's do you think they'll get?
It has:salli wrote:Has the MTZ tyre got a 2 ply or 3ply sidewall?
Sidewall/ Body -
2 - 1500 denier body plies
1 - 6.5 degree angled body cover ply
Tread section -
2 - Steel belts
1 - Spiral Nylon Overwrap

Hi!
i must say i got off to a shakey start with them nearly ploughing up the back of a camry 5 mins after leaving fourby's at marooka there....
fresh waxy tires down hill in wett and braking heavy is not a good plan
a few groans and moans and the big girl pulled up in time...
but from there found all the mud holes i could at work over last week and havnt even looked like letting go of the muddy stuff........
as for the patern i think theres a hint of krawlers in there if im thinking of the right one...... no matter what a good marketing ploy by mickey t.....
a happy medium for those want the best of both worlds eg some road manners... fresh rubber and balanceing also made the drive more pleasant as was starting to shudder and drone in car and hadnt had a chance to fix.... rubber quiet so far......
drop in and see ryano when ya saved your coin and im sure his sums will keep a smile on your face and the leader of the oposition when you take her to dinner with the money you saved
they look good anyway
my only concern was km's but if i get 60-70 ill be happy- give me a couple of months and i'll give your wear reports...
also they are a little hungry the 305's- trying to eat the front mud flaps! 1 goone already the next in due time

16's are always going to be dearer as they run a higher load carrying capacity and ply rating on them. Much better for puncture resistance and towing.
33x12.50R15 - 1000kg/tyre
305/70R16 - 1320kg/tyre

Re: tyres
Well the MT rep i spoke to there told me that they should be just as good as the radial claws. Stronger sidewall too, with 3 plys as oipposed to the claws 2ply.sasjeep wrote:ya saw them at the 4wd show. road tyre end of story. At least thats what the guy selling them said. I did'ent mind them.
