mmmm HID

Post by mike »

Finished putting my HID lights in the other day.....

And initially I wasn't all that impressed....

Until i turned my halogen spotties on that was, I could barely tell the spotties were on!
:D

After a few days getting used to them, in particular the colour (4500K), I'm ecstatic about their performance.

Now it just remains to be seen if they are "zook proof"
:D :D

I take it thse are in the headlights. I have been thinkng about these as well.

Do the outperform the spotlights on high beam? as in range or width.

yup headlights, no doubt they outperform my narva 180's in both range and width. In fact the improvement in side vision is one of the greatest aspects. I did replace reflectors at the same time (because I was going from sealed beam) which may contribute to this but a mate who just replaced globes commented the same.

i put a set of hids ($360ish ), and new glasses / reflectors ( $120) in the old zook, i have 240 lightforce, and have to say it works great.

The upgraded headlights are good, giving excellent side light, and a fair amount of depth, i put the main spotties on and use them as 2 pencils slightly crossed and you can see it improve on the highway or long straigts but in general quiet happy to run on headlights were i use to have to run everything.

I took my zook for a 450km trip on sunday on some of the crapiest dirt roads I have ever driven. Massive corrigations, potholes, washouts etc, all at about 80- 100kmh. My arse is still numb, and my seat is F'd, but the HID is still kicking on :D

Being so much brighter do these make a difference to oncoming traffic? eg, do you blind people?

If your lights are aimed properly would they be OK?
