it was hard to recover him outta there too, was a decent ledge footage not the best.
That cv must have been cracked already or it was not genuine ntn. Genuine ntn are much stronger then that.
I broke a cv with the tyre in the air, as in I was stuck on a log with only the rear right tyre on the ground. The cv that broke was 3m in the air and only had the tyre turning on it, obviously a damaged cv to brake as air does not provide much traction.
Exess throttle and lock, shock load and undercuts break cv's. I never broke a cv that I didn't expect to break.
i have a gq and the cv's are the weak point, they imo don't stand up to being locked up running big tyres.
They break rather easy ,nearly as easy as a lux diff .
If you say you cant break a gq cv your lockers are not working and you are not 4wding.

IMO i don't really think there is a definitive tire size that will break more stuff than another. Generally over time you really start to get a 'feel' for how much torque you can put through the diffs. We run heaps of different tires from 33' to 40's and find that a 33 will in some situations get you into more trouble, they always seem to get wedged into rocks or undercut ledges , where a 37 or 40 would just roll over. Get a 33 bound up and even moderate power will cause a big BANG! mechanical sympathy is your best line of defence..... and a good spotter / navvy. Its easier on the wallet to be able to 'pick the easiest line - through the hardest obstacle' rather than have to hit it hard - and pray.
