Hey,

Just wondering how to get the ign barrel out of a sierra? I need to get it out to get it rekeyed as i dont have the key for this one. It is for a zook bought from the wreckers.

I can possibly get a key cut for the rear lock that came with the zook but unsure if it is the same as the ign lock.

cheers

Nic

1, remove the plastic trim around the steering column,
2, remove the 2 smooth headed, tamper resistant bolts from the shaft lock,
3, seperate the shaft lock from the column,
4, then you can get at the philips head screw that holds the barrel into the alloy housing,
5, remove the barrel.
6, sit back, remove top from frosty beverage of choice and say AHHH

use a pin punch to tap around the outside edge of the bolts do not remove one fully and then expect the other to come out do both a little at a time and when you have freed them a little you can use a little pressure from the punch to spin them out. after you have the bolts out cut a slot in the head and use a flat blade to put them back in alternately tell the locksmith that you want 2 new breakoff bolts to suit.
if you have the other locks for the zuk take them in as well. the drivers door usually has a code u1234 which a decent locksmith can use to cut you a key approx $25 for 2 keys.
if you were in bris i could sort it out for you.

I jsut used a 1.0mm cutting disc on my 4" grinder and cut a slot in them. Then just use a big screwdriver. You can even put the same bolts back in then if you want to.

Come on guys, you forgot the very important steps of putting screwdriver tip through palm of hand, and major bloodblister on palm of remaining good hand from the locking bit on the vice grips, after over tightening the adjuster from previous failed attempts to unscrew the :bad-words: tamperproof bolts
